Arsenal play late WWE star Brodie Lee theme song during FA Cup match

Arsenal appeared to pay tribute to Brodie Lee during tonight’s ongoing FA Cup tie with Newcastle.

As the teams came out for the second half of the all-Premier League clash on Saturday evening, it seems the late wrestler’s AEW theme He Is Exalted could just be made out playing over the PA system at the Emirates.

A fan wrote on Twitter: ‘Arsenal DJ played Brodie Lee’s theme when teams were walking out’.

During the broadcast on BBC, as the players were emerging from the tunnel, the song could just about be made out in the background as the pundits set up the next period in the match.

The touching tribute comes after Brodie – whose real name is Jon Huber and is known to WWE fans as Luke Harper – tragically died aged 41 on December 26 following a non-Covid-related lung issue.

Since his death, the wrestling world has been paying its respects to the late star, and late last week a London artist revealed a mural in Shoreditch in his honour.

In terms of Arsenal and sports entertainment, this isn’t the first time the Emirates has featured a wrestling theme song over the sound system.

Last summer, WWE fans were delighted when players jogged back onto the pitch with the sound of legend Triple H’s entrance music blaring out of the Emirates PA system – which has become a regular occurrence over the past few years.

Not surprisingly, fans were delighted by the move with Arsenal blasting out The Game by Motorhead – which was recorded specifically for the wrestling superstar – as the Arsenal side got ready for the next 45 minutes.

One supporter quipped: ‘Anyone else hear Triple H theme tune before the second half of the Arsenal v Liverpool game. Was expecting him to come storming down the tunnel spitting water every where. (sic)’

However, what Arsenal fans don’t seem to have realised yet is Triple H himself has actually gone on record in the past and revealed he supports London rivals West Ham.

He’s even compared the Hammers to WWE itself, previously insisting: ‘West Ham is probably the closest to what we do, with the passion of their fan base and their loyalty, right? That’s the closest to what we do.’
