BEN Shephard was left stunned after Richard Madeley took a swipe at Judy Finnigan on the Tipping Point celebrity special.
On Sunday a repeated edition of the ITV quiz show aired and saw Richard, 65, joined by Mark Wright and Sheila Ferguson.
Richard Madeley made a cheeky joke about wife Judy Finnigan while on Tipping Point: Lucky Stars
Richard said he was an ‘independent man’ before pretending to take a call from his wife
Telling viewers he is best known for being part of the presenting duo, he added: “I don’t need anybody to hold my hand, I’m an independent man, so you guys better watch out.”
Richard finished off by pretending to take a call from his wife, causing Ben and viewers to laugh.
Sheila was the first to leave the competition after round one, while Mark followed at the end of round two, leaving Richard in the final after he secured £2700.
As well as the cash, Richard also won some Tipping Point underpants and he joked: “Next time I’m sitting on This Morning I’ll wear them.”
In the final, Richard was asked if he wanted to trade what he had won so far for three more counters.
However, if he failed to get the lucky counter out, he would leave with very little for his charity.
Richard decided to gamble, telling Ben: “I think it would be timid not to give it a whirl”.
His decision paid off, as he managed to get the sought after counter out of the machine and win £20,000 for his two charities, St Frances House Essex and Cornwall Air Ambulance.
Viewers were loving Richard’s performance with one writing on Twitter: “He did so well. I had sweaty palms.”
Another added: “Well done Richard that was a brave decision, and lovely to split the winnings between the two charities!”
