It’s been six years since Sarah Lancashire has played Sergeant Catherine Cawood on Happy Valley, but the actor looked ready for action as she was pictured on set of the BBC drama.
The third and final season of the series is currently in production, with James Norton returning as villain Tommy Lee Royce and Siobhan Finneran back as Catherine’s sister, Clare Cartwright.
The last time Happy Valley was on air was in 2016, with the series ending with Tommy locked behind bars.
In new photos taken of Sarah, 57, on set, she could be seen dressed head to toe in her police gear, complete with walkie talkies, a fluorescent vest and other gizmos.
At one point, she was captured sitting in the front seat of a police van, a stern expression on her face.
However, it looks like the atmosphere is far more light-hearted when the cameras aren’t rolling, with the Coronation Street star seen having a laugh with a co-star and taking a sip from a hot drink in a takeaway cup.

The synopsis for the third season of Happy Valley has teased lots of drama to come, as Catherine embarks on a path to find out what happened to a murder victim.
However, she somehow finds herself crossing paths with Tommy once again in the process.

‘When Catherine discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir it sparks a chain of events that unwittingly leads her straight back to Tommy Lee Royce,’ the description states.
‘Her grandson Ryan is now 16 and still living with Catherine, but he has ideas of his own about what kind of relationship he wants to have with the man Catherine refuses to acknowledge as his father.

‘Still battling the seemingly never-ending problem of drugs in the valley and those who supply them, Catherine is on the cusp of retirement.’
Speaking about reprising the role, Sarah was cool as a cucumber, saying: ‘It’s time to let the dog see the rabbit.’
James said that it was a ‘wonderful and daunting privilege’ to ‘take on Tommy one final time’, saying that he’s been looking forward to the opportunity for six years.
‘I’m so excited to be working with the insanely talented Sally and Sarah again. Thinking we should all go on one last barge holiday, for old times’ sake,’ he added.
