As far as stunt doubles go, Sarah Lancashire’s one on Happy Valley is uncanny to say the least.
Filming for the highly-anticipated third and final series of the BBC drama is currently underway, with the lead actor reprising her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood.
James Norton is also returning as the villainous Tommy Lee Royce, while Siobhan Finneran will be back as Catherine’s sister, Clare Cartwright.
In new photos taken on set, Sarah can be seen getting right into the thick of the action, with her body double alongside her in the intense, high-octane scenes.
In one picture captured in between takes, the pair are facing one another, with the actor wearing earmuffs and carrying what appears to be a hot drink to stay warm in the cold, winter weather.
However, things got serious once the cameras started rolling, as Sarah was seen holding a suspect on the ground, as her stunt double knelt beside her, presumably about to step in to take her place.

One image appears to show Catherine punching a possible criminal in the face as he lies on the ground, having straddled him to prevent him from running away.
In further pictures, the man’s grey tracksuit bottoms have been dragged down to his knees as fellow police officers help the Sergeant maintain hold of him.

Another photo shows Catherine in pursuit of the same man, running after him in the street.
It’s unclear whether this was taken before he was dragged to the ground or afterwards, which means he might have found a way to escape./

The upcoming episodes of Happy Valley promise to be a gripping watch, with the final season due to arrive six years after series two aired.
Catherine will have to have her wits about her as she takes on a new case, having discovered the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir.
The events that unfold will eventually lead her back to Tommy, which – of course – will result in all sorts of complications.
Catherine’s grandson, Ryan, is now 16 years old, and is figuring out what kind of a relationship he wants to have with his father, Tommy.
However, Sarah’s character – who is on the verge of retiring from the force – refuses to acknowledge that Tommy is Ryan’s father.
The first two series of Happy Valley are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
