I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! star Shane Richie’s son ‘gets nervous’ about his dad making controversial jokes that might offend viewers.
Shane Jr says he keeps expecting his actor dad to mock the Nolans – the family of his mum, Shane’s ex-wife Coleen Nolan – and has noticed the TV star trying to keep the risky gags in.
He told The Mirror: ‘What they used to be able to get away with, the sexist comments, you can’t say that stuff.
‘Not that he means it or believes it, but you just can’t say, “You all right love? What are you wearing?” It’ll rub someone up the wrong way.’
Speaking about his dad’s recent I’m A Celeb challenge Wicked Waterways, Shane Jr said: ‘When he went into the tunnel with the rats I was fully expecting him to come out with something like, “It’s like being back with the Nolans”.’
He added that he could ‘see it in his face’ that the ex EastEnders star is being careful with the jokes he makes.
Maybe he is keeping back a few choice words for Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard as there has been a bit of friction between the pair over the past few days.
Shane Jr has come to his dad’s defence after viewers accused him of ‘bullying’ AJ.
Not taking the claims lightly, he replied to one fan on Twitter by saying: ‘Bullying wtf is wrong with people’.
Replying to a clip of Shane and AJ posted on I’m A Celeb’s Twitter, he posted: ‘I know it’s a tv show but ur playing with peoples lives man (sic).
‘If their really is tension then I’m all for it. Or are you editing to cause tension ? That’s what I can’t agree with. I know it’s telly but theirs vile comments being thrown around and it’s not fair.’
They put aside their differences for the Chamber of Horrors trial on Friday, scoring an impressive 11 out of 12 stars.
At the close of the episode, Paralympian Hollie Arnold became the first celebrity voted out.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
