What a moment! (Photo: AEW Dynamite)
AEW Dynamite just got a lot more interesting as KENTA made his shocking debut and attacked Jon Moxley.
The New Japan Pro Wrestling star – who also spent time in WWE and NXT as Hideo Itami – made his presence felt at the end of Wednesday night’s show and built to his huge inter promotional match with the former world champion.
The end of the Beach Break special was already wild, with Kenny Omega teaming up with IMPACT Wrestling’s Good Brothers in a huge main event.
The AEW champ, Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Moxley, PAC and Rey Fenix in the main event, before things broke down into a brawl.
At one point, Mox was left standing over Omega before a masked man jumped into the ring and took him out.
The mystery assailant took off his mask and revealed himself as KENTA, then hitting a Go 2 Sleep on his rival.
Of course, he still has a guaranteed shot at Moxley’s IWGP United States Heavyweight Title – but this was a huge shock with major ramifications for the wresting world.
As well as just being a great shock, his appearance also suggests at least some level of working agreement between NJPW and AEW, with the latter already in cahoots with IMPACT.
Now, it seems like Tony Khan’s promotion has finally opened the door for another massive deal, with the dream match possibilities genuinely mouth watering.
Ever since Don Callis helped Omega win the world title on the same night Sting made his return, there is a feeling that anything can happen on Wednesday nights.
Indeed, that one moment led to Kenny teaming up with The Good Brothers at IMPACT Wrestling’s Hard To Kill event last month as they defeated the team of world champ Rich Swann, Moose and Chris Sabin.
The future is bright, and it’s a great time to be a fan!
