Piers Morgan isn’t a fan of Brooklyn Beckham’s latest tattoo tribute to fiancee Nicola Peltz, branding it ‘creepy’ and ‘cringe’.
Over the weekend, Brooklyn, 21, unveiled new ink of a poem Nicola wrote etched on his back below a previous tattoo of her eyes on the back of his neck.
In the note, the Bates Motel actress professes her love for David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest child and signs off the letter calling herself Brooklyn’s ‘future wifey’.
Piers, 55, mocked the sweet tribute on Good Morning Britain and said – after describing Brooklyn as a ‘famous child’: ‘It’s his fifth permanent tribute he’s made to his American actress fiancee Nicola Peltz. It shows her eyes and a load of guff he’s written.
‘Imagine if they break up, he’d have to get someone else’s eyes. There’ll be a lot of eyes on that back by the time he’s older.’
When Susanna Reid asked if Piers has any tattoos himself, the presenter shot back: ‘No, I just don’t get tattoos. If God wanted you to have tattoos he’d have given you them.
‘David Beckham is just a tattoo now isn’t he. He’s just one big great tattoo and now his kids are doing it. Imagine putting your girlfriend or wife or fiancee’s eyes on the back of your neck.
‘It’s just creepy and weird. It’s not romantic. it’s the weirdest, oddest, cringe thing you’ll see. Just extraordinary.’
Brooklyn shared a black and white photo of the large tattoo on Instagram. Nicola’s note reads: ‘My forever boy, read this anytime you feel anxious. I want you to know how deeply loved you are.
‘You have the kindest heart I’ve ever met and hope I never go a day without your love. I think you are so incredible.’
Brooklyn and Nicola got engaged in July after eight months of dating
It continues: ‘Just know we can get through it all together if you breathe slow and trust. I love you beyond. Love always, your future wifey.’
Brooklyn already has an impressive collection of tattoos, including ‘mama’s boy’ etched on his chest, a huge angel above his stomach and a camera on his bicep. He also recently had the name ‘Gina’ tattooed onto his arm in honour of Nicola’s late grandmother, with Nicola revealing on Instagram the tribute was the ‘best birthday gift’.
The smitten couple announced their engagement in July after eight months of dating.
David and Victoria gave the engagement their seal of approval and it’s since been reported that the pair are set to wed in 2022, after postponing plans for their big day due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
