Matt James’ season of The Bachelor finally premiered on Monday night and fans were surprised to see that he stayed in an estate called Mystic Falls.
For all those who were fans of The CW series, The Vampire Diaries, the name immediately rang a bell because the show was set in ‘Mystic Falls, Virginia’.
The teen horror/romance series revolved around high school student Elena’s love triangle with two Vampire brothers and the lives of all her other supernatural friends.
As Matt greeted his ladies at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania, viewers were thrilled at the idea he had been quarantining in ‘Mystic Falls’.
They immediataly flocked to Twitter to make jokes about the reality star being a vampire like Stefan and Damon Salvatore.
Others joked that the finalists would be called Elena, Bonnie and Caroline in a nod to key female characters in Vampire Diaries.
One viewer tweeted: ‘OMG THE BACHELOR??? MATT JAMES??? WILL BE FINDING LOVE AT MYSTIC FALLS??? AN ACTUAL PLACE NAMED MYSTIC FALLS??? BRB LITERALLY SCREAMING RN’
‘not the bachelor being filmed in Mystic Falls and me fully surprised that it’s actually a real place and not just fake from TVD,’ another commented.
One fan wrote: ‘I’m sorry, but did that sign just say MYSTIC FALLS @BachelorABC ????? Is Matt a vampire? Witch? Vampire hunter? I MUST KNOW.’

‘the bachelor pulling into his “mystic falls” estate like do you expect me not to immediately think of the vampire diaries #TheBachelor,’ another viewer added.
Let’s hope Matt has an easier journey on the hunt for lasting love than Elena and the Salvatore brothers did.
