The Bachelor: Rachael Kirkconnell slammed as fans unearth racist posts

The Bachelor fans are calling out frontrunner Rachael Kirkconnell as she’s been accused of ‘cultural appropriation’ and previously liking what they claim are ‘racist’ posts online.

The reality show contestant is currently believed to be the woman who will win Matt James’ heart at the end of the season, however the 24-year-old is under fire for her alleged social media activity.

Bachelor Nation has recently dug up one ‘offensive’ photo in which Rachael can be seen wearing a Native American costume at a fancy dress party.

The ensemble included a beaded feathered headpiece and matching brown fringe dress.

Then in June 2020, Rachael posed in a group bathroom selfie where she and six other friends all wore a headpiece.

Fans are also less than impressed by the brunette graphic designer’s past Instagram engagement, with screenshots allegedly revealing liking pictures of friends posing in front of a Confederate flag and wearing a MAGA hat.

Others were shocked to find pictures of liking a picture of her friends wearing a MAGA hat and using the hashtag #trumptrain (Picture: Instagram)

Elsewhere, one alleged former classmate of Rachael, Maddy Bierster, shared a TikTok video of Rachael and Matt with the caption: ‘Girlieeeee, remember when you bullied me in high school for liking black guys???’

Fans have been troubled since the accusation came to light as many now question if Rachael was on the show for the right reasons, considering Matt is the first-ever Black male lead on the franchise.

One fan tweeted: ‘Frankly, Rachael Kirkconnell should have been pulled from this season once all of this came to light. It’s just so f**ked.’

Another wrote: ‘Since its the start of black history month & rachael who has been exposed to be hella problematic aka racist gets that 1:1 date with matt and she will be centered today.’

‘Ok the racist girl on bachelor (Rachael) thinks she can turn off her ig comments and I won’t find a way to Cybér Bûlley,’ a third added.

Bachelor contestants are usually unable to address allegations while they’re still on the show.

However, Matt spoke out in Rachael’s defense as he told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I have not spoken to anybody since the show ended, but I would say that you have to be really careful about what you are doing on social media.

‘Rumors are dark and nasty and can ruin people’s lives. So I would give people the benefit of the doubt, and hopefully she will have her time to speak on that.’

He added: ‘There’s a lot of stuff going around about the women that were involved in the show.

‘I would just give them a chance to kind of have their piece, whether that is someone who was gone night one or someone who went home last night. Everyone has a story, and I would just be receptive to that.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ABC for further comment.
