Michelle Gomez has nothing but praise for her The Flight Attendant co-star Kaley Cuoco (Picture: HBO)
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk about what it was like to work with The Big Bang Theory star, the 54-year-old explained: ‘That girl, she has got “IT”. She’s drop-dead gorgeous like a cross between Brigitte Bardot and Goldie Hawn but she’s also really talented with great instincts, and she’s completely in charge of her own abilities.
‘She’s been one of the most refreshing performances that I’ve ever seen and have had the good fortune to work with.’
The Doctor Who star continued: ‘Watching the eight episodes in fairly quick succession, you get to see how her performance is held at such a high level consistently all the way through.’
The pair’s characters had a rocky relationship, to say the least, but the actresses instantly got along during their time on the set of the murder mystery drama.

Michelle recalled: ‘It was an unspoken agreement between the two of us that we could have fun with our scenes. We instantly had a comfortability with one another. She’s very affable, generous and very talented.
‘She just wants to play as well. She kind of gave us permission to bounce off each other which was great fun.’
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star added: ‘She’s very present which is a wonderful energy to naturally play opposite. I was able to be more in the moment and be much more authentic. We’ve been described as an unlikely pair, you would never have put us together. But it just kind of worked.’
Indeed, viewers have loved seeing the pair together on screen together with fans instantly enjoying Michelle’s turn as the surprisingly hilarious Miranda.

Speaking about the role, Michelle explained: ‘I knew from the go that she was the bad assassin and a bit of a villain but then once I get my hands on someone like that I want to do something more with the character because we’re never just one thing.
‘I always try to bring a bit of humor into the mix because I feel like it’s actually a more effective way to get a message across than if you’re just being all mean and nasty in the corner. And by doing that, it means that can pull the rug from under the viewer when they’re least expecting it.’
In the HBO series, viewers follow Cassie on a hunt for answers after a date night with a handsome passenger in Bangkok ends up with her waking up in bed next to his dead body.
Naturally, viewers are waiting to see if the show might return for a second season. If it does, Michelle already has an idea of what she’d love to see happen next.
‘I have a really exciting idea of what I have in store. In my mind, where we would go with Miranda is very clear to me where we will go. But I am not going to share that because that would be a massive spoiler,’ she teased.
As for whether she thinks Cassie could end up becoming a CIA agent, Michelle hinted: ‘She does say a couple of times throughout the season, “I’m not just a flight attendant”. The show illustrates her coming into her own power.
‘Cassie has unburdened herself from the horror and the tragedy that she endured as a child and let go of that baggage. Now she can get out of her own way and can become her best self.’
The Flight Attendant is available on HBO Max in the US, while a UK release date is yet to be announced.
