Two best friends competed against each other in tonight’s episode of The Voice – and only one of them got through.

Yana Bing and Esther Cole, both 21, took to the stage separately in hopes of getting a turn from the judges.

Yana was up first and performed Lady Gaga’s hit song Stupid Love.

Despite her best efforts and a stunning performance, none of the judges turned for Yana.

Speaking after her blind audition, Olly Murs regrettably said: ‘I loved the energy man, that’s my kinda act as well.’

Esther then took to the stage and sang Let Me Down Slowly by Alec Benjamin.

Olly and Sir Tom Jones were so impressed they both turned their chairs for her.

‘You have a beautiful voice,’ Tom told her.

‘Who did you come with today, you on your own?’ Olly asked.

To which Esther awkwardly replied that her best friend had auditioned just before.

‘My best friend is Yana, who you didn’t turn for sadly. You should have turned for her,’ she explained.

Will.i.am, chipped in: ‘She has a good voice right? If you swear by her, she sings great, she probably sounds awesome because you sound awesome.’

‘She needs to come back, which is what we are trying to say,’ Olly added.

When it came to the pitches, Sir Tom told Esther that she had a ‘lovely voice’.

‘Last time, I had a girl from Cornwall she won the show,’ Olly laughed. ‘Just saying.’

In the end, Esther decided to be on Team Tom.

Luckily, nothing can break Yana and Esther’s friendship as Yana was cheering her mate on from the side of the stage.

The Voice continues on ITV on Saturdays at 8.30pm.
