A ‘humble’ contestant on Michael McIntyre’s new gameshow The Wheel had viewers ‘crying’ when he won the prize pot during the second episode of the series, walking away with a tremendous £28,000.
Rich, from East Yorkshire, spent about half of tonight’s show waiting patiently to be chosen to face the panel of celebrity ‘experts’, which included Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson (whose chosen category of expertise was ‘Chelsea’) and comedian Katherine Ryan (whose topic of choice was ‘The Kardashians’).
In the end, Rich was the contestant left on the wheel and was faced with answering one final nail-biting question for a prize of either £14,000, £28,000 or £56,000, depending on which celebrity he chose to assist him.
Rich decided to hedge his bets with dancer and choreographer Wayne Sleep for £28,000, Wayne having been ranked as the middle-strongest expert throughout the show.
For his final question, Rich had to answer: ‘Which of these actors made a cameo appearance in the TV series ‘Friends’ first?’, the options being Brad Pitt, Susan Sarandon, George Clooney or Reese Witherspoon.
With just 30 seconds on the clock to decide, Rich opted for Ocean’s Eleven star George, which turned out to be the correct answer, as the actor appeared in season one of the sitcom as Dr Michael Mitchell.

Rich’s eyes filled with tears as he realised he had won £28,000, having previously told Michael on the programme that if he won the money, he would use it to ‘make a nice future’ for his nine-year-old daughter, who he raises on his own.
Several people who watched tonight’s programme said they felt ‘so happy’ for Rich, who goes into schools giving ‘talks about motivation, inspiration, disability awareness, inclusivity and diversity’ and is a five-times world champion powerlifter.
‘So happy for Rich on The Wheel he seems like a lovely guy!’ one person said.
‘Rich is sooooo humble! He deserves his win,’ another added.
Television presenter Laura Whitmore shared her congratulations for Rich, tweeting: ‘Rich on The Wheel is making me emotional! So happy he won.’
During last week’s show, contestant Leome won a whopping £76,000.
Earlier on in the show, singer Mel B almost slipped up on a question about the Spice Girls, breathing a huge sigh of relief when she realised her initial answer – and the one Leome went with – was correct.
Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel returns next Saturday at 8.35pm on BBC One.
