WWE NXT superstar Tian Sha
The creepy warrior has been leading Xia Li and Boa, and while we saw her getting a servant to torture the pair until they were ready to serve her, we didn’t know much else.
This week, fans got treated to something of an animated kung-fu film, which revealed she is one of two children from an ancient Chinese dynasty.
Her evil and corrupted brother killed their father and became king, while she had to go into exile.
While on her travels, she met a dragon and asked it to teach her – but their agreement came at the cost of her own soul.
The beast taught her the strength to bring honour back to the kingdom, and she became what she hated by ruling with fear.
WWE has done incredibly well with its presentation of Tian Sha, who thus far has only really been seen watching Xia and Boa from her throne.
Much more than just cool aesthetics and an epic entrance, the mysterious woman now has a fully fleshed out backstory with a supernatural element not often seen on NXT – or indeed WWE as a whole.
The company has managed to nail the storyline so far, with fans engrossed and the identity of the performer behind the character still yet to be confirmed.
There is limitless potential for Tian Sha and her faction, as they could take on the women’s division on NXT and beyond with their credibility building by the way.
With the supernatural side, you could also see Tian Sha as a potential future rival for ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt and his friend Alexa Bliss, which could lead to a cinematic masterpiece.
WWE has a gem of a character in their grasp, and one that’s so different from everything else on weekly television – now, the intriguing part is seeing where they go from here.
