Edge made a shock appearance on WWE Raw last night and declared himself for this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match.
The Rated R Superstar’s sensational comeback at last year’s event was an emotional moment the fans will never forget nine years after he was forced to retire due to injury.
Now, he has confirmed he will be back on January 31 as he tries to get the win this year and go onto WrestleMania 37 to challenge for the world championship – almost a decade after he gave up the World Heavyweight Title rather than losing it.
He delved into the long journey he faced to get back in the ring, before defeating Randy Orton in their Last Man Standing Match at WrestleMania 36.
However, another injury derailed his comeback and cut things short after the two former Rated RKO teammates battled in what was branded the Greatest Wrestling Match Ever at Backlash.
Now, Edge has confirmed he entry into the Royal Rumble match later this month, as he looks to continue his road to redemption.
Of course, he noted this year’s appearance won’t be like the emotional high of 2020’s comeback because the stakes are much higher.
As times goes on, the window for his return closes a little more each day, and now he needs to fight to take back what he never lost, and what he feels is his.
He acknowledged it might be a farfetched dream, but he’ll still fight in the Rumble with every last breath to make it come true as he guns for one last run at the top.
For anyone who’s followed Edge’s career from its beginnings with The Brood until now, they’ll know he has to at least try, and he insisted dreamers and fighters make the world a more magical placing.
Quoting Henry Ford, he added: ‘”If you think you can or you think you can, you’re right.” Well, I think I can. I’ll see you at the Rumble.’
