Are estate agents open today?
There is no fixed rule about estate agents being closed or open on a bank holiday.
The decision on whether to stay open or closed depends on each company.
Some estate agents close their offices, but keep their phone lines open during bank holidays to continue offering assistance to potential tenants.
On its website, Foxtons says the offices are closed today, but phone lines are open between 9am and 5pm.
Knight Frank’s offices are also closed on Bank Holiday Monday, but the company continues offering a phone service, as well as live chat on its website.
You should get in touch with your local branch to double-check if the estate agent you want to contact is open on August 31.

Can I go for a viewing today?
As long as your estate agent is open and offers viewings, you can go and look at properties today.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, stricter rules are in place – including social distancing and avoiding touching surfaces.
But if you live in an area affected by local lockdown measures, you should check your local authority’s website to see if there are any restrictions in place.
During the coronavirus pandemic, most estate agents started offering the option of virtual viewings to help reduce the risk of spreading Covid-19.
Those visiting a property in person – including estate agents – should always wear a face covering as described in the government guidance, unless they are exempt from this requirement.
All viewings should be by appointment only and no open house viewings should take place.
