Make a welcoming entranceway

The hallway is the gateway to your home, yet in most houses it’s a dumping ground for coats, bags and shoes. Create a knockout first impression by decking the floor in stylish but bang-on trend black and white geometric floor tiles.
There are lots of good designer copies now on the high street. And a new carpet runner up the stairs will give your hallway an instant facelift.
Spruce up the walls, ceiling and woodwork with a lick of paint – use light colours to brighten it up. A mirror will give the illusion of more light and space.

Log burners have become an increasingly popular focal point within UK living rooms and will certainly increase your property’s value.
They come in a range of designs, colours and types for all budgets and homes, and are a great way of adding the ‘cosy factor’ to a living room space. You can purchase a cheap log burner for around £600.
Add French doors
French doors are another loved feature as they open up the living room to the garden.
Aluminium doors are the most popular and stylish and will cost about £1,000 – but if you’re on a budget uPVC French doors are a low cost option (£300-£500).

Laminate worktops are inexpensive and will cost between £100-£350, depending on size. Granite and quartz are firm favourites but a luxury option so expect to pay at least five times that price.
Changing your cupboard doors is another cost-effective update and they come in a range of colours, finishes and materials that will drastically modify your kitchen’s appearance instead of ripping out the units.

Spruce up the garden

Changing the front door can add kerb appeal to your house, but it is also an instant and simple way to increase your home’s value by up to £4,000!
It’s also an easy job as it will only take half a day to install. Prices start from £250 for a new door and labour costs vary, subject to where you are in the country.

Upgrade brathroom hardware

Think sleek black taps, chrome waterfall or classy brass. New taps start at around £20 but buy the best quality you can afford.
Ceramic floor tiles are cheap (£4-£8 per sq m) and come in a variety of colours and finishes. For something more luxurious (and pricey) porcelain gloss or stone tiles will add texture.
