Fancy a house for £29,950 in County Durham? (Picture: Zoopla)
Your dream of home ownership may, finally, be in reach.
No, not because all those 2021 saving challenges have magicked up enough for a deposit, but because there’s a house up for sale for under £30,000.
That makes the property a tenth of the average home currently on the market.
The terraced property sits in Chilton, County Durham, and is listed on Zoopla with an asking price of £29,950.
It’s actually no longer the cheapest house on the site, as there’s a home in Middlesborough on sale for £25,000, but this property’s house is nothing to sniff at.

Zoopla rounded up the cheapest homes on their site, exclusing properties that had any Government support schemes, such as shared ownership and Help to Buy, involved.
The Chilton property comes close to the top of that list.
So, what do you get for that £29,950 price tag?
Inside there are two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room.
The house also has central heating, double-glazed windows, and an enclosed yard

Whoever snaps it up will likely want to do some renovation work, as the interiors look a touch dated, with brown wallpaper in the kitchen and touches of pink in the bathroom tiles.
Tom Parker, of Zoopla, said: ‘If you’re looking for a home that has potential but you can truly make your own, this property in Chilton, with a great location near the local park and school and a private enclosed garden, is a great choice.
And the same goes for the bathroom (Picture: Zoopla)
‘Although this property comes with central heating and double glazed windows, to make the most of your investment ensure you budget correctly as properties that come with a cheaper price tag can often require additional renovation, meaning costs can quickly mount up.’
True that. But with the entire house costing less than a deposit on a London flat, it seems like an opportunity that’s well worth it.
