Fancy buying a section of roof for £500k? (Picture: Allsop)
We all know that buying a property in London is absurdly expensive.
But sometimes we need a reminder of just how ridiculous the housing situation truly is.
Case in point: this storage room and roof space in Notting Hill, which is up for sale with a guide price of £500,000.
Let us be clear.
This is not a house with a roof space and storage room, but just space on a roof and a storage room.
You will pay £500,000 – quite a bit more than the average cost of a house in the UK – for a bit of roof.

Now, to be fair, the roof does have planning permission to build a three-bedroom maisonette. So there’s potential there.
But obviously, you’d have to actually build said maisonette, which would take quite a bit of cash, too.

Allsop, who are selling the space, say the proposed accomodation would total 1,442 square foot arranged over a ground, mezzeanine, and first floor.
Or you could just put up a tent on the roof and enjoy views of London, unobstructed by pesky walls or ceiling.

Alternatively, you could snooze in the current accommodation, a storage room that’s 5.6metres long, 3.7metres wide, and 4.7metres high.
Location-wise, the property is pretty special.
The roof sits on Monmouth Road, just a short walk from Bayswater underground station and close to loads of shops, bars, and restaurants.
You could even walk from your roof space to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, although you wouldn’t need to leave your home for the fresh air.
If you do fancy making an offer – and happen to have £500,000 spare – you can find out more through the Allsop website.
