Fancy buying this top-floor flat? (Picture: Future Property Auctions)
The dream of buying a house can feel pretty unattainable – especially now the average deposit for first-time buyers sits at £57,000.
But all hope is not lost.
It turns out you can buy a home without mortgage or a massive deposit… if you’re quick enough to nab this particular flat.
The two-bed property in a Scottish village is up for auction with a starting price of £10,000.
Yep, that’s £10,000 for the whole flat, not just the deposit.
You’d need to have no one else interested in bidding and have £10,000 ready to go, but somehow this feels more realistic than buying a house in the ‘normal’ way.

The flat sits on the high street of Bonnybridge village, which is near Stirling, in Scotland.
It includes an entrance hall, a lounge, a kitchen, a bathroom, and two double bedrooms.

The property has been recently renovated (Picture: Future Property Auctions)
The top floor flat has also been recently refurbished, with nice laminate flooring and simple white walls, so wouldn’t need a lot of work before you move in.
Location-wise, it’s in a nice spot with nearby shops, parks, supermarkets, and schools, as well as regular bus services to surrounding areas.
Throughout the town you can see gorgeous views of the River Forth and the Ochil Hills.

The listing on Future Property Auctions notes that this is an ‘extremely popular rental location’, so if you don’t fancy living in the home yourself, you could rent it out for around £450 a month.
Do that and you’d make back that £10,000 price tag in under two years.
If you’re keen, you’ll need to sign up for the auction via the property’s agent.

The auction will take place on January 29, and while the opening bid is just £10k, it’s pretty likely that there’ll be a lot of interested parties – so expect to offer up more than just that.
For those of us not lucky enough to win the auction with no further bids, we guess it’s back to saving every penny to chase that distant dream of homeownership.
We can do this. We hope.
