Getting the right fitting bra is really important to make sure it’s giving you enough support.
But getting measured means getting up close and personal with a stranger and that’s not really possible right now.
To help, M&S has created a contactless bra measuring service and it will be available at 64 stores.
Trained fitters will provide sanitised tapes and guide customers through how to measure, from a safe distance.
Customers can then try on some bras in the measured size and the fitter can assess it by looking at it, suggesting different shapes or adjustments which could help.
While M&S and other brands already have bra fit calculators online so you can measure yourself at home, the brand says these appointments mean someone can show you exactly how to do it and make a better assessment of the fit.
Other safety measures which will be in place include:
- Hand washing: Hand sanitisation stations will be at the entrance to all lingerie fitting rooms and customers will be asked to sanitise their hands on arrival; colleagues will wash their hands between every appointment.
- Social distancing: 2m distance to be maintained at all times between bra fitter and customer.
- Extensive cleaning: Fitting rooms to be cleaned after every customer including all surfaces & all tape measures, with a deep clean every evening.
- Quarantining product: All bras tried on and not purchased will be isolated.
- Face coverings: Colleagues will wear a face covering, visor and disposable gloves and customers will wear a face covering – like they’ll do whilst shopping the rest of the store.
After a successful trial earlier this year in five branches, the bra fitting service is now available at the larger stores in England and Wales.
There are plans to roll it out into stores in Scotland and Northern Ireland from December 14.

‘We know our customers will continue to use online services and we’re working hard on improving those, but we also want to offer them the choice of an in-store experience, so we’re delighted to be starting our contact-free bra fit service.
‘Customers can expect the great service they know & love, but adapted for this time, with extensive safety measures in place to protect our customers and our colleagues.’
