Love it or hate it, socks and sliders are a fashion look here to stay.
Once considered a sartorial ‘ick’, they are an acceptable form of footwear for day to day life.
And even UK politicians are getting in on the act.
While preparing for today’s budget, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak donned socks and sliders as he debated the country’s financial future – but they weren’t your run of the mill Nike pair.
No, Rishi sported a £95 option by Palm Angels, an Italian brand that interprets American culture and subcultures.
On shopping site Farfetch the sliders are described as being ‘inspired by the LA streetwear scene…these slides embody that ethos with their classic open-toe, slip-on silhouette and gothic logo lettering in stark black and white.’

How you style your Palm Angel slides is entirely up to you, but we advise to pair with a matching tracksuit for your morning coffee run or with your swimwear and shorts of choice if you find yourself on an autumn holiday.
However, for footwear made primarily for days by the pool, £95 pounds is a steep price to pay – even for the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Thankfully, sliders are now readily available at very affordable prices meaning you can get the politicians off-duty look for less.
And so, here are a selection of brilliantly affordable dupes.
