A MAN who died after being attacked during a large-scale disturbance in Manchester city centre may have been trying to act as a peacemaker.
Cops were called to a fight outside a bar in Dantzic Street, near the popular Printworks venue, shortly after 8pm on Saturday.

They said around 10 people were reported to have been involved and a 60-year-old man, who was a passer-by at the time and not involved in the initial disturbance, was assaulted and died at the scene.
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
The Printworks contains a number of bars, restaurants and a cinema.
A white forensic’s barrier could be seen erected around part of the pavement outside the Walkabout bar this morning before a cordon – placed overnight – was removed.
One city-centre worker, who didn’t wish to be named, said that the victim had tried to act as a “peacemaker” and “calm” the fight down.
“There was a group of lads who were fighting and the man tried to calm it down,” he told The Sun.
“But one of lads punched him and he fell unconscious to the ground.
“He was just trying to act as a peacemaker and ended up losing his life.”
The worker also claimed the man had been out for his 60th birthday with his wife, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
One eye-witness who’d seen the fight described the man’s death as “awful”.
Sharon Heffernan posted on Facebook: “I saw all the fighting but didn’t know someone had died… it’s just absolutely awful.”
One bar-worker confirmed the incident had happened outside the Walkabout bar.
“After the police arrived the manager went outside and pulled all the shutters down,” she said.
“We only found out what happened later.”
Detectives have appealed for witnesses who may have filmed the incident to come forward.
Detective Inspector Mark Davis, of Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) Major Incident Team, said: “This was a tragic incident where a man who wasn’t involved in the disturbance has lost his life, leaving his family understandably devastated.
“The cordon has been removed and officers are at the scene carrying out enquiries but we’re keen to speak to anyone who might have been in the area at the time as we believe a number of people were filming the incident and those videos may prove crucial to our investigation.
“Anyone with information or has footage is asked to report it online at www.gmp.police.uk quoting log 2792 of 20/11/2021. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
The Sun Online has contacted the GMP for comment.
