MANCHESTER CITY have marked the tenth anniversary of the most famous goal in their history by unveiling a statue of Sergio Aguero today.
It was on May 13, 2012, that the Argentinian scored 93 minutes and 20 seconds into the game against QPR to clinch their first Premier League title.

Neighbours United had ended their game at Sunderland thinking they had the trophy yet again – only to see it snatched out of Alex Ferguson’s hands in the most dramatic fashion.
Chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak called it ‘the moment that changed everything’ as it kick-started a glittering era for City.
And a statue depicting the iconic image of Aguero wheeling away, twirling his shirt around his head after scoring the goal will take its place outside the East Stand of the Etihad this morning.
The 33-year-old striker is due back in Manchester for the first time since he left the club last summer to see it in person and look back on that unforgettable day.
City’s all-time leading goalscorer said: “Truthfully, it is a very beautiful thing for me.
“In those ten years, I was able to win a lot of trophies and was able to help the club become one of the most important in the world.
“I was very young and to see myself ten years ago is very moving.
“I am grateful to the club for making this statue in recognition of my career in Manchester. It is something very special.”
Aguero’s statue will take its place alongside those of former team-mates Vincent Kompany and David Silva which were finished last summer.
It has been designed and created by sculptor Andy Scott, who also produced the other two last year.
Khaldoon said the striker – who scored 260 times for City and is the fourth-highest goalscorer in Prem history – is fully deserving of the tribute.
He said: “It’s the moment that I think, changed everything.
“If you look at the ten years since, that was the moment that introduced what lies ahead. He is absolutely deserving, and a legend for this club.
“These players, Vincent Kompany, David Silva and now Sergio represent a type of football that is enjoyable, beautiful on the eye, effective and that brought with it a lot of trophies.”
Many of Roberto Mancini’s squad who won the title for City that day will return to the club today for a special celebration.
A dinner will be held at the Etihad – before a party at a venue in the city centre which will be attended by around 2,000 fans.
Ironically City are honouring their legendary former striker in the same week as they secured the signing of his long-term replacement Erling Haaland.
