Cyberpunk 2077: Elon Musk mocks CD Projekt’s apology

Billionaire engineer Elon Musk has a cameo in Cyberpunk 2077, but that didn’t stop him from throwing some jabs at CD Projekt.

Cyberpunk 2077 has already become notorious for being riddled with bugs and performance issues, especially on the original PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

CD Projekt has issued an apology and is offering temporary refunds to console owners, but this hasn’t negated peoples’ criticisms towards the game and company.

Even billionaire and Space X CEO Elon Musk, who makes a cameo appearance in the game (as well as his singer/songwriter partner Grimes), has taken potshots at CD Projekt’s apology on Twitter.

Musk’s first reply is a screenshot of another player’s Reddit post, where they admit that the game has left them feeling empty after failing to meet their expectations.

The second is a screenshot edit of workplace comedy The Office (the American version), which is done in the Cyberpunk 2077 neon aesthetic and depicts a scene of Steve Carrell’s character pushing his hand through the fly in his trousers.

This is most likely alluding to one of the visual glitches, where characters’ penises clip through their clothes.

However, when someone asked Musk what he actually thought about the game, he admitted that he’s liking it so far.

Yeah, briefly. Seems pretty good. I picked Nomad, so start was a little slow, but picks up fast. Seemed like almost everyone on Steam was playing Cyberpunk at some point this weekend!

Maybe Musk’s jabs at CD Projekt were meant to be light-hearted, but the entire scenario hardly seems like a laughing matter considering what a disaster it’s all become.

Aside from the fact that CD Projekt deliberately didn’t show how the game ran on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before launch, and only supplied PC versions for critics to review, reports quickly came out that the game was even causing epileptic fits.

Some people on Twitter were quick to say that it isn’t fair for Musk to criticise CD Projekt when his company’s most recent rocket launch ended with said rocket exploding.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are scheduled for 2021.
