Latecomers to the Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta won’t have to endure as many bugs, as two extra maps and a new game mode are added.
It will become properly open to everyone starting tomorrow on Saturday, September 24, but there are some advantages to getting into the beta late. Namely, it means you should have less bugs to worry about.
Infinity Ward has detailed a number of changes it’s made in response to player feedback, chief among them player visibility – making it easier for players to spot enemy targets.
Perhaps to keep things balanced, however, it has also ‘decreased the overall distance from which you could hear enemy and ally footsteps.’
Poor visibility has been one of the more prominent issues players have had with the first beta session. You can find several threads complaining or mocking it in the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit.
Bugs related to the user interface and progression have been fixed too. If you took part in the first beta weekend and are returning for the second one, Infinity Ward is confident that any progress you made will be carried over.
The second beta has added extra content as well, in the form of two new maps – Sariff Bay and Sai’d – and the Ground War mode, which pits two teams of 32 players against each other.
You can also play an entirely new mode called Invasion, which is essentially a large scale deathmatch that involves two teams of 20 players and computer-controlled characters, making for 80 participants altogether.
You can find Infinity Ward’s full list of additions and fixes on its website.
As a reminder, the open beta will be available from Saturday, September 24 at 6pm BST and end on Monday, September 26 at 6pm BST.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 28.
