After over a year of silence, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad game will get another showing at DC FanDome and hopefully it will include gameplay.
Rather than make another Batman Arkham game, Rocksteady Studios are instead helming a Suicide Squad game. It was unveiled at last year’s DC FanDome event with a trailer and a 2022 release date.
Since then, there hasn’t been so much as a peep of news about it. With this year’s DC FanDome taking place this October, it was generally assumed that the game will be present during the event. And now Rocksteady has confirmed precisely when it will be shown.
The event is being held on October 16 and, according to the game’s official Twitter account, you should tune in at 6pm BST / 10am PT if you specifically want to learn more about Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.
Aside from that, not much else is known. A key visual depicting the four playable characters – Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark – has been shared, but it’s not clear exactly what will be shown at the event.
Preferably, Rocksteady will have some gameplay footage to show off since last year’s trailer was purely cinematic and only established the game’s concept. As a reminder, Suicide Squad is a co-op action game where up to four players work together to stop an invasion by the alien supervillain Brainiac (Rocksteady has stated that it can be played solo).
Given the subtitle, it’s safe to assume that the Justice League’s various members will serve as antagonists. The announcement trailer already confirmed that Superman himself will appear and apparently under some form of mind control.
This won’t be the only game in attendance either. Gotham Knights, which is being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal (the studio behind Batman: Arkham Origins) has also been confirmed for the event. This game is expected to release first, although it was pushed back from its 2021 release window to 2022.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is scheduled to release in 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
