Plan a post-lockdown getaway (Picture: Metro.co.uk)
While jetting off to warmer climes seems like a distant memory, you can still think about organising an outdoorsy trip somewhere a little closer to home.
We’ve rounded up three activities you can do once lockdown is lifted – all still socially distanced of course.
So if you fancy a walk along dramatic shores, uncovering hidden treasure or getting away from it all in a peaceful countryside retreat, read on.
Stay in a Shepherd’s Hut
Get in touch with the great outdoors
Lympstone Manor, a stylish Devonshire country house hotel, has just introduced five luxurious Shepherd Huts for when stays are possible again.
Located in the trees at the foot of the hotel’s vineyard, they come complete with outdoor hot tubs, roll-top baths and walk-in showers, and access to a new tennis court.
Named after local wildlife found on the property – Hedgehog Row, Bee Hive, Hare’s Rest, Otter Holt and Fox Den – they start at £409pn.
Discover hidden treasure
It’s not just pirates who can hunt for treasure…
Treasure Trails’ themed self-guided walking trail booklets take explorers on a circular outdoor route of around two miles somewhere in your local area.
En route, you have to work together to hunt down clues and solve a detective mystery or spy mission.
You don’t have to get on a plane for panoramic views like this
The newly launched England’s Coast project has gathered all the info you will need on what’s going on along our glorious shorelines.
Highlights for 2021 include the world’s first art geo-tour trail – using geocaching – with seven artworks connecting the coastlines of Essex, Kent and East Sussex; the 200th anniversary of the death of poet John Keats, who had links to Margate; and the Isle of Wight’s designation as a Unesco Biosphere Reserve.
